Banco de Desarrollo del Ecuador B.P. is a public financial institution, established on September 17th, 1976 as "Banco de Desarrollo del Ecuador" (BEDE). Since May 1992, it is known as Banco del Estado. The bank is the main body of the country which finances public works projects. It finances projects related with infrastructure, public services, environment and governments needs, through credit and other financial mechanisms. As of December 30, 2015, it changed its name to Banco de Desarrollo del Ecuador B.P.
