Nasr City Housing and Development (MNHD) was established in 1959 as a public company responsible for providing the housing solutions in Cairo's Nasr City district. Nasr City Housing became a joint stock company in 1995, when the Holding Company for Building and Construction (HCBC) sold 75% of the company's equity in Egypt's first majority privatization achieved through the stock exchange. MNHD is engaged in real estate development and housing activities through the purchase and sale of land, land division and leasing, property development, construction of residential and commercial buildings, property management, as well as in the provision of architectural and engineering services. It has two subsidiaries, Nasr Civil Works Company and Nasr Utilities Company. It also founded in 2005 a local joint-venture with UAE developer Emaar, which is called Emaar Misr and is listed on Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange.
