National Bank of Egypt (NBE) is the oldest commercial bank in Egypt. It was incorporated in 1898 with a capital of £ 1 million. NBE had an important role for the development of the country during the different economic and historical periods. Since 1960s NBE is responsible for the issue and management of saving certificates on behalf of government. Currently the bank provides a wide range of banking services for individuals and institutions and has more than 300 offices in Egypt. NBE has also branches in other countries, including Dubai, USA (New York), China (Shanghai), South Africa (Johannesburg), Ethiopia (Addis Ababa), UK (London).
