The MKB Bank Nyrt. (Hungarian Foreign Trade Bank) is founded in 1950 with the main goal to ensure the banking tasks related to foreign trade. In 1987 opening of new businesses happened – the bank became a commercial bank and started providing its services to all kind of domestic companies and individuals. In 2005 the MKB Bank became the Hungarian subsidiary of Bayerische Landesbank group(BayernLB). Until the end of September 2014 BayernLB sold its shares of MKB Bank to the Hungarian State.
