PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Tengah (Bank Jateng) was established in Semarang on March 13, 1963, and started its operation on April 6, 1963, under the name of Perusahaan Daerah (regional company) Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Tengah. The establishment of Bank Jateng was aimed at managing the regional monetary and assisting in improving regional economics through loan distributions to small enterprises. Bank Jateng is a bank co-owned by the Provincial Government of Central Java and city/regency governments in Central Java. Later in 1999, Perusahaan Daerah Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Tengah changed its status from a regional company to a limited liability company (PT) and therefore changed its name to PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Tengah. On May 7, 1999, Bank Jateng participated in banking recapitalization program. As of December 31, 2019, Bank Jateng has 37 conventional branch offices, 5 sharia branches, 125 conventional sub-branch offices, 13 sharia sub-branches, 169 conventional cash offices, 10 sharia cash offices, 320 conventional Payment Points, 4 sharia payment points, 896 conventional ATMs, 25 sharia ATMs, 35 conventional mobile cash services, 4 sharia mobile cash services, 466 conventional EDC, 6 sharia EDCs, 7 CDM and 653 branchless banking program.
