Oil Exploration Company (OEC) has been an independent administratively and technically state owned company since 1987. Before that it was known as Exploration State Directorate and was a department of the Iraqi National Oil Company. Its headquarters is located in Baghdad. The company is engaged geology and seismic surveys, researches and analyses, and other related services. OEC activities are executed by the five main divisions and more than 20 different departments .
