Iran Aluminium Company, located in Arak, Iran, was established in 1972. It operates on a 232-hectare area, 5 km away from Arak city. The company initially had 2 production lines and a capacity of 45,000 tons per year. With the construction of this factory, Iran Aluminium Company became the first producer of aluminum ingot in Iran and the Middle East. As the demand for aluminum increased and downstream industries were established in Arak and other cities, Arak became a central province for primary and secondary aluminum production. In response to the growing consumption of aluminum in Iran, the company expanded its pot room workshops from 2 lines to 5 production lines, increasing its production capacity to 120,000 tons per year. In 2002, a new unit with a capacity of 110,000 tons per year was constructed, equipped with 200 KA smelter technology and environmental standards. By the end of 2008, this unit reached its full production capacity and was added to the production line. Currently, Iran Aluminium Company operates with two smelter technologies, 70 KA and 200 KA.
