Kuwait Petroleum International, known as Q8, is the international subsidiary of state-run oil conglomerate Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, the umbrella under which the Government of Kuwait controls and integrates all aspects of the oil industry, including upstream, downstream and marketing. Q8 refines and trades various petroleum products, such as fuels, oils and lubricants, with a capacity of 450,000 barrels per day. The company was established in 1983 and launched its internationally recognized trademark Q8 in 1986. It kicked off its international expansion with Spain and Luxemburg, and pursued this trend mostly by acquiring BP’s local European assets. Now its operations are widely spread in whole Europe and Asia handling over 4,000 retail service stations.
