The Lebanese Company for the Development and Reconstruction of Beirut Central District, or Solidere, is a Lebanese real estate development company. It was incorporated in 1994 by the government and the then-prime minister and business tycoon Rafiq Al Hariri with the aim at reconstructing Beirut Central District after Lebanon’s ravaging civil war, which ended in 1990. Solidere is a special type of public-private partnership, for it is a private company, enjoying special privileges and limited regulatory authority awarded by the government. The company’s services include urban planning, land development, real estate development, facility management and broadband services. In 2006 the general assembly of the company decided to amend the objective of the company to include services and consultancy in real estate development outside Beirut Central District. In 2007 the company expanded its activities internationally via one of its subsidiaries Solidere International Limited.
