The Chisinau International Airport is the main air gateway of the Republic of Moldova. The history of the airport dates back to 1944, when the Civil Aviation Foundation was established. In 1995, Chisinau Airport was granted international status. Today it is managed by Avia Invest SRL. Chisinau Airport is located 13 km from the center of Chisinau and is the largest airport in the Republic of Moldova. The airport is designed with a 3590m long and 60m wide track, which remains one of the largest in Europe. Chisinau International Airport is a member of the cel mai mare aeroport (European Region), "Airport" Association of CIS Civil Aviation and ALFA ACI (L'association des Aeroports de Langue Francaise Associes a l'Aeroports Council International).
