Alfa S.A.B. de C.V. is a conglomerate composed of five business groups: Alpek (petrochemicals), Nemak (high-tech aluminum auto components), Sigma (refrigerated food), Alestra (information technologies and telecommunications) and Newpek (natural gas and hydrocarbons). The company owns about 85 manufacturing operations in 18 countries in Latin and North America, Europe and Asia; it is an employer of more than 59 000 people. Alfa is the world’s leading manufacturer of aluminum engine heads and blocks, and one of the largest producers of PTA and PET. It is also a leader on the Mexican market for petrochemicals and the North American market for processed meats.
It was established in 1974 under the name Corporacion Siderurgica with three subsidiaries: Hojalata y Lamina in the steel industry, Empaques de Carton Titan in the field of manufacturing of cardboard and Draco in the field of mining. Alfa’s shares are quoted on the Mexican Stock Exchange and on Latibex, the market for Latin American shares of the Madrid Stock Exchange.
