LG Electronics Mexico S.A. de C.V. is a subsidiary of LG Electronics Inc., before known as Goldstar. It is engaged in the development, design, manufacturing and sale of electronics, information and communications products. Goldstar arrived in Mexico in 1988, importing its products through a distributor and installing a TV manufacturing plant in Mexicali, BCN. In 1994 the company opened offices in Mexico, in order to control locally the sales strategy, marketing and distribution of Goldstar products. In 1995 Goldstar acquired Zenith, a TV manufacturer, also taking over its TV manufacturing plant in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. In 1996, Goldstar opens offices in Monterrey and in 1997 in Merida. In March 1998, LGEMS (LG Electronics Mexico Sales) opened the new company's headquarters in Tlalnepantla, Estado de Mexico. Following Goldstar's world image change, due to the change from Group Lucky-Goldstar to LG, Mexico also witnessed this image change from July 1998, with a new slogan Goldstar's new face. In March 2000, the Distribution Center (CEDIS) began to operate in Cuautitlan Izcalli, Estado de Mexico, helping to improve the sale and distribution process of products coming from Korea and other manufacturing plants. In October 2001, LG Electronics Mexico opened its first household appliances manufacturing plant in Monterrey, Nuevo León.
