Excelsior is the second oldest newspaper in Mexico City and is one of the most important in Mexico. It was founded by Rafael Alducin and its first issue appeared on March 18, 1917. It currently belongs to businessman Olegario Vazquez Rana, part of Grupo Imagen. The newspaper was relaunched on March 18 2006, upon reaching 89 years in circulation, with a completely new design and incorporating many recognized contributors.
