Sortilemn SA (Romania)

Sortilemn SA was settled in 1961 being a veneer, plywood, and chipboard producer. In 1985 there was added a matches factory and furniture plant. In 1993 there were made investments in the veneer section to produce layer-glued furniture, and in 1999 the factory was privatized. Sortilemn has a social impact by creating working places, from 739 workers in 2000 to 1150 in 2005. Sortilemn has also an economic impact succeeding during these years to remain among the Romanian wood processing enterprises. Its turnover has been improved year by year from 3 million EURO in 1999, before privatization, to 13 million EURO in 2002, 17 million in 2003, 21 million in 2004 and 25 million in 2005.
