Vard Electro Tulcea SRL (former Aker Yards Electro Tulcea) was founded in April 2004 by separating Electrical Department Aker Tulcea Shipyard. Newly established company is Aker Yards Electro shareholder AS, one of the largest Norwegian investors in Romania. The activity of the Norwegian company is the design, manufacture and installation of electrical equipment and automation systems for marine and industrial applications. In April 2006, Aker Yards Electro opened a new subsidiary, Aker Yards Electro Braila, in the shipyard in Braila.
