"Bank Uralsib" was established as a limited liability company (partnership) in Bashkortostan in early 1993; its original name was “Republican Investment & Credit Bank “Bashcreditbank”. In April 1998, the bank was reorganized into an open joint-stock company. The bank’s founder and sole owner till November 2000 was the Government of Bashkortostan. Budgetary funds and administrative resources of the bank enabled it to appear among the Top 20 Russian banks in terms of assets.
