Unilabs Slovensko, s. r. o. is a company located in Martin, Slovakia. It has been providing laboratory diagnostic services in Slovakia since 1997. The company expanded its expertise from clinical biochemistry to microbiology, medical genetics, immunology, and pathology. In 2017, it became part of the multinational laboratory group Unilabs, headquartered in Switzerland. In February 2021, the company formally changed its business name to Unilabs Slovensko, s. r. o. Unilabs is one of the largest diagnostic laboratory networks in Europe, formed in 1987 by the merger of three Swiss diagnostic laboratories. It has since grown throughout Europe and in 2007 merged with the significant imaging diagnostics company Capio, established in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. Unilabs has become a European leader in diagnostics and expanded its portfolio to become a global operator in genetic medicine and pathology. The company employs approximately 12,700 people worldwide, including 1,520 doctors, and operates more than 250 laboratories. It conducts over 200 million tests annually. The company has introduced several firsts in Slovakia, including drive-thru testing for COVID-19 via PCR, precise laboratory ELISA testing for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, and precise laboratory antigen testing. In 2021, Unilabs Slovensko also became the first to offer PCR testing through gargling. The company's laboratories process samples from nearly 12,500 patients daily, conducting over 90,000 examinations. Unilabs Slovensko ensures the reliability of laboratory test results through internal and external quality control and accreditation of its laboratories. It also provides its own transportation service for efficient transport of samples throughout Slovakia. The company invests in education and collaborates with the Slovak Medical University, with its central laboratory in Bratislava and pathology department in Martin serving as training bases. Unilabs Slovensko is a contractual partner of all health insurance companies in Slovakia and provides services to 80 hospitals, clinics, and over 7,000 doctors.
