The insurer Union poistovna was established in 1992. The company has developed its activities in life insurance, it provides company insurance, non-life insurance to residents and focuses on travel insurance and individual health insurance. The financial and insurance group Eureko has been its majority shareholder since 1997. Union poistovna is one of the founders of Slovak Insurance Association. Its original focus was on the insurance of business risks (especially international trade risks) and individual clients' risks.
