Bastas Baskent was founded in 1967 with 500,000 tons/year cement production capacity. In 1983 a lime factory was added to the production facilities. Between 1988 and 1991 the capacity for producing was increased and the second coal mill investment has been completed. In 1997, a silos with capacity of 10,000 tons of cement was completed and the next year 1000 tons/hour production capacity of the new crusher has been completed. In 2002 waste recycling plant has been completed for the fuel used for heating purposes.
Nowadays Bastats's line of business includes the manufacturing of quicklime, hydrated lime, and dead-burned dolomite from limestone, dolomite shells, and other substances.
