The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey - CBRT (in Turkish Turkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankasi) was established in Ankara in 1930. The main objective of the Central Bank is to ensure price stability and has the privilege to issue banknotes. The CBRT determines, at its own discretion, the monetary policy to pursue and the policy instruments to use in achieving price stability in Turkey. Only CBRT is responsible for the implementation of the Bank's monetary policy. In order to attain its objective of price stability, the bank has implemented a full-fledged inflation targeting regime.
