TransAsia Airways Corp. was established in 1951, the first private airline by the Taiwanese. In October 1958 it suspended scheduled services and engaged in acting as agent of the passenger and cargo sales agents and ground service for internation airliners. In 1983 Goldsun Group obtained the company’s operating right, and it transferred to Goldsun Group. On August 25, 1988 it resumed operating domestic flights. Since 1992 it started charter services to Philippines, Laoag, Manila, Wusu, Phnom Penh, Surabaya, Yangon, Phuket, Danang, Manado and others. In October it obtained international airline flight status. In 1995, its air kitchen in Kaohsiung and Taoyuan both obtained ISO9002 quality certification. In Octover and December 1995, it opened up Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport-Surabaya and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport - Macau international scheduled flights. In 1996, it opened up Opened 1996 Kaohsiung-Macau International scheduled airline, and it started regional alliances with Xiamen Airlines and Yunnan Airlines, transitting domestic passengers to Fuzhou, Xiamen and Kunming via Macau. In 1998, it started alliance withg Shanghai Air Transport, transitting passengers to Shanghai via Macau. In 1999, it opened up Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport - Phuket international airline. In 2000 it set up alliance with Hainan Airlines transitting passengers to Haikou and Sanya via Macau.
