American International Group began operating in Venezuela in the year 1940 through its subsidiary American International Underwriters Overseas. Subsequently it changed its corporate name in the year 1966 to C.A. of Seguros American International (CASAI). In 1994, AIG in a strategic partnership with the Banco del Caribe, assumed control of C.A. of Seguros American International through the holding company Inversiones Segucasai C.A. C.A. de Seguros American International specializes in property insurance for national and multinational industries and businesses and individuals within Venezuela. Currently, its social purpose is the provision of insurance in the consumer lines (travel, home and auto insurance), commercial lines (all industrial risk, electronic equipment) and SMEs lines.
