Pha Lai Thermal Power Joint Stock Company, located in Hai Duong, Vietnam, is a company specializing in producing electricity from natural coal fuel. The company was started construction on 17.05.1980 and had the largest power plant in the northern region of Vietnam at that time. The plant consisted of 4 generator turbine units and 8 boilers. However, the power output gradually decreased from 1989 to 1993 due to the connection of other power plants to the Northern power grid. Since 1994, the plant has been strengthened to exploit with the establishment of a transmission line. In 1998, Pha Lai 2 Thermal Power Plant was constructed on the remaining ground of Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant. It has a total capacity of 600 MW, with 2 units each having a capacity of 300 MW. The plant is designed and built to meet international standards of environmental protection. When completed, it will significantly increase Vietnam's power system capacity and support the nationwide electrification program.
