Serbia's copper mining and smelting complex Rudarsko-Topionicarski Basen Bor (RTB Bor) deals with mining, processing and manufacture of copper and precious metals.
In 1961 former Bor Mine was renamed into RTB Bor. In 1999 the organizational structure of the company was changed and the RTB Bor Group was formed. In 2004 the local privatization agency began the restructuring of the RTB Group.
Austrian company A-Tec, which was ranked first bidder in the tender for the sale of RTB, offered in the beginning of 2008 to invest USD 93 million in the Bor and Majdanpek mines. A-Tec, which offered to buy RTB for USD 466 million, has offered to invest USD 180 million in RTB Bor, which was also the minimum amount of investment in the announced tender. After this unsuccessful attempt, the state tried to sell the smelting complex several times but all tenders failed.
In 2013, RTB Bor produced 36,000 tonnes of copper, 1,154 kg of gold and 5.8 tonnes of silver.
