Austria's Raiffeisen Zentralbank (RZB) obtained a licence from Yugoslavia's central bank to open a universal bank in March 2001, making it the first 100% foreign-owned bank in Serbia and Montenegro.
Raiffeisenbank Jugoslavija launched services for corporate clients in July 2001 and started offering banking services to retail customers two months later.
The bank changed its name to Raiffeisenbank Belgrade in early 2003 to reflect the political changes in the country.
