Lasta is a major Serbian transport company. Besides passenger transport activities, Lasta is also active in tourism, catering, trade and production.
The company provides passenger road transport, international transport on the territory of the major part of Europe, intercity transport on the whole territory of former Yugoslavia and the larger part of the Serb Republic, local transport on municipal territory as well as urban transport in towns.
Lasta had some 23% share on the Serbian transportation market as of 2008. It operates 833 buses and employs over 3,500.
The company turned to a net profit of 39.7 million dinars ($745,300/510,300 euro) in 2006 from a 789.2 million dinars net loss a year earlier.
Lasta runs catering and retail shops at its bus stations and also offers wholesale of spare bus parts. The company’s automotive fleet is maintained in its auto-centers and bases across Serbia. Some of these facilities also provide car maintenance services to citizens.
In November 2007, Serbian authorities opened a tender for the sale of the 64.4% state-owned stake in Lasta, but it failed after the only candidate – a consortium of Israeli Mayer`s Cars and Trucks Company and Horn and Leibovitz submitted incomplete documents.
