Zepter Osiguranje was founded in April 1998 by Switzerland-based Zepter International - a consumer goods, banking and insurance group, owned by local businessman Milan Jankovic.
The company's primary activity was life insurance and it also operated in the property & casualty insurance sectors.
In March 2006, Austrian insurance group Uniqa acquired an 80% stake in Zepter Osigurnaje for EUR 16 million. In February 2007, the carrier was renamed into Uniqa. The Austrian insurer established Uniqa Non-Life Insurance A.D.O. Belgrade in 2007 thus separating the life from the non-life operations.
Uniqa operates more than 25 branch offices across Serbia.
