Serengeti Energy Limited (South Africa)

Serengeti Energy Limited is a renewable energy company based in Nairobi. They specialize in developing and operating renewable energy projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. The company has previously focused on hydro-power technology but is now expanding into solar and wind energy technologies. They have commissioned Sierra Leone's first commercial grid-connected solar power plant with a capacity of 5MW, as part of a larger 25MW project. Additionally, they are in the process of commissioning a 21MWp solar power plant in Malawi. These two solar PV plants have added a further 26MW of generation capacity. Serengeti Energy aims to have 300MW of capacity in operation by 2030. They currently have 8 operational plants in 4 countries, including 3 hydro-power plants in South Africa, 3 hydro-power plants in Uganda, 1 hydro-power plant in Rwanda, and 1 solar-power plant in Sierra Leone, with a total operational capacity of 53MW. The company has an in-house operations and maintenance team, as well as qualified service providers, to manage their assets from the commercial operation date up to the expiry of the project power purchase agreement.
