Inventory increased in a preparation for a record-selling Q4 due to the Chinese Single’s Day and the high global demand during the holiday season. Domestically, both production and sales declined y/y, by 8.3% and 4.2% respectively. These numbers are to be expected given the saturation of the market and the high penetration rate in China - a majority of the Chinese population already owns at least one. Foreign brands are experiencing an even more ddramatic decrease (86.2% y/y), following a downward trend since the end of 2015. However, lobal interest in the Chinese brands is steadily increasing, as demonstrated by exports rising by 2.1% y/y.
