China’s output of crude steel and steel products climbed by 3.1% y/y to 505.3mn tonnes in Q3 2016, encouraged by rising steel product prices. Prices on the domestic market have been climbing since March 2016, exceeding the average 2015 level in November 2016. Total profit was positive at RMB 48bn, compared to a loss of RMB 6bn a year earlier.
