India Automotive Sector Report 2021 3rd Quarter

In Q3 FY2021, the automotive output volume in India (excluding commercial vehicles) reached 7mn units. On a quarterly basis, production increased by 8.3% in Q3 FY2021 (up from 6.5mn units in Q2 FY2021, excluding commercial vehicles). Along this vein, output rose by 15.2% in Q3 FY2021 compared to Q3 FY2020 (a volume of 6.1mn units, excluding commercial vehicles). The recovery of the industry after the suspension of activities during Q1 FY2021 started in Q2 FY2021 and continued in Q3 FY2021. At segment level, passenger vehicle production grew by 21.1% q/q and by 17.8% y/y. Two- and threewheeler production increased by 5.7% q/q and by 37.2% q/q, respectively (on a yearly basis, output rose by 17.7% y/y and fell by 34.5% y/y, respectively). Quadricycle production increased by 43.1% y/y and by 194.3% q/q in Q3 FY2021. Commercial vehicle data has been discontinued by SIAM since Q1 FY2021.
