New Kabul Bank, or NKB, is one of the largest commercial banks in Afghanistan, fully owned the government. It started commercial operations in June 2004 and, like all banks operating in Afghanistan, is under the supervision of the Central Bank of Afghanistan. New Kabul Bank has a network of 112 branches covering 9 provinces. It provides various banking services, such as deposits, loans, internet banking, direct debit for payment of bills, mobile phone banking and Islamic banking. The bank has established business relationships with international banks situated in Turkey, China, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Belgium and India. NKB is the principle agent for Western Union’s Money Transfer in Afghanistan.
