The university was created by Avelino Porto September 11th of 1964 acording to 14.557 Law; that establishes that the universities must be created like organizations without a monetary purpose. At the moment, the University of Belgrano counts with the Faculties: Social architecture and Urbanism, Right and Sciences, Economic Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, Computer science Technology, Agrarian Sciences, Foreign Languages and Studies, Exact Sciences of the Health, Sciences and Studies at a distance; and four academic units of posgrado: Faculty of Graduated Studies for, International School of Economy and Businesses, School of Posgrado in Right and Department of Studies of Posgrado and Continuous Educación.
