The gas utility company Sarajevo Gas, which was established in 1975, is in charge of natural gas distribution, management and maintenance of the gas network in the region of Sarajevo, the capital of the Muslim-Croat Federation.Almost 98% of the company is state-owned, while the rest of equity in the listed company is divided among small shareholders. The company operates the 1,020 kilometres gas network in the region via three main regulation stations and 73 regional reduction substations.
Sarajevo Gas sells natural gas to some 65,500 customers. The company plans to increase usage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as an alternative and conditioning fuel in the regional gas system.
