The Bank was incorporated as a Public Limited Company under the Companies Act, 1994 on 12 March, 1995. The Bank has been licensed by the Government of Bangladesh as a Scheduled commercial bank in the private sector in pursuance of the policy of liberalization of banking and financial services and facilities in Bangladesh.
In view of the above, the Bank within a period of 10 years of its operation achieved a remarkable success and met up capital adequacy requirement of Bangladesh Bank.
The Bank was listed on Dhaka Stock Exchange on 10 April 2000 and Chittagong Stock Exchange on 24 April, 2000.
The Bank carries out all the commercial banking services.
The Bank has been awarded First Runner Up Award under the category of Private Sector Banks and Joint Second Runner Up under the category of SAARC Anniversary Award for Corporate Governance for “Best Presented Annual Report 2016” by South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
The Bank has four subsidiaries which are Southeast Bank Capital Services Limited, Southeast Financial Services (UK) Limited, Southeast Financial Services (Australia) Pty Limited and Southeast Exchange Company (South Africa) Pty Limited.
The Bank changed name of Southeast Bank Ltd to Southeast Bank PLC on 7th November 2023.
