The City Bank Limited (Bangladesh)

The Bank was established on March 27, 1983 through opening its first branch at B. B. Avenue Branch in the capital, Dhaka city. It was the visionary entrepreneurship of around 13 local businessmen who braved the immense uncertainties and risks with courage and zeal that made the establishment and forward march of the bank possible.
The bank was incorporated on March 14, 1983 under the Companies Act, 1913 in Bangladesh with an authorized capital of Tk. 1.75 Billion under the entrepreneurship of twelve prominent and leading businessman of the country.
Today, City Bank serves its customers at home and abroad with 77 branches spread over the country and about three hundred oversea correspondences covering all the major cities and business centers of the world.
The bank was listed on Dhaka Stock Exchange on 3 February 1987 and on Chittagong Stock Exchange on December 27, 1995.
The principal activities of the Bank are to provide wide array of financial products and services that includes all kinds of conventional and Islamic banking services to its customers. It offers commercial banking, consumer banking, trade services, cash management, treasury, SME, retail, custodial services and clearing services to its customers.
These activities are conducted through its branches, SME centers, Islamic windows, and vibrant alternative delivery channels (ATM booths, internet banking) in Bangladesh. The Bank also provides off-shore banking services through its Off-shore Banking Units (OBU) and Islamic banking services through its Islamic bank branch.
The Bank has three subsidiaries which are City Brokerage Limited, City Bank Capital Resources Limited and CBL Money Transfer Sdn. Bhd.
The Bank s name change of The City Bank Ltd to City Bank PLC on 10 December 2023.
