Bulgaria's locking devices manufacturer Mauer Locking Systems manufactures an array of security products, including profile cylinders, mortise locks, master key systems, handles and shields as well as safe boxes.
It is a successor of local firm Dekaba, which launched production of safety locking systems in 1990.
In 1996, the firm started a co-production project with German sector firm Mauer Handel and the Dutch locking systems supplier Van Erp Agenturen.
Four years later, the two foreign partners acquired minority stakes in Dekaba and have invested over EUR 200,000 in the company by 2006.
The company exports over 55% of its output, mainly to the Netherlands, Belgium and Russia.
Mauer Locking Systems, which operates two plants in the Black Sea port of Varna, controlled around 60% of Bulgaria's door handles and locking systems market as of mid-2006.
