Boliarka VT, which is based in the northern town of Veliko Tarnovo, is one of the two locally-owned brewers in Bulgaria.
It is the legal successor of the Sliven-based company Trans Oil, which is part of local private industrial group Mel Invest Holding.
The holding group bought controlling stake in the Velikotarnovsko Pivo brewer during the first wave of the country's voucher mass privatisation programme in 1995-1996.
Velikotarnovsko Pivo is a successor of a local brewery established in 1892.
After the sell-off, the only activity of Velikotarnovsko Pivo was to rent its assets to Trans Oil, which was renamed Bolyarka VT in 2000.
Boliarka is a licensed distributor of Kaltenberg and official importer of the German beer Warsteiner Premium Verum.
The company exports its production to four continents - America, Asia, Europa and Africa.
