Despred, which was established in 1947, used to be the leading forwarding company in Bulgaria.
In December 2000, Swiss-registered company Spedkom AG bought 60% in Despred for USD 6.99 million. The Zurich-based enterprise paid the price with a loan extended by First Investment Bank of Israel (FIBI). This was the second attempt to sell the company since the first one collapsed after none of the five bidders submitted final offers.
Despred, which is headquartered in the capital Sofia, runs branches in more than 10 Bulgarian cities. The company operates more than 70,000 square meters storage area.
