Bulgarian apparel producer Druzhba Style, which was established in 1957, manufactures men's suits, coats and trousers and women's outer garments.
The company, based in the Black Sea port of Varna, exports half of its output to the United States while the rest is shipped to EU member states.
The firm's clients list features U.S. clothing retailer Gap Inc., Spanish women's fashion retailer Mango and retail clothing chain Zara.
In August 1996, Bulgaria's Privatisation Agency sold 60% of the clothes maker to Kontex-95 for USD 3.7 million.
The buyer had to pay half of the price in cash and the rest in government debt bonds.
The majority owner pledged to invest USD 1.7 million in the company in a five-year period.
Kontex-95, later renamed Kontex-Druzhba, gradually expanded its stake in Drouzhba Style to more than 90%.
