Egida, which was established in 1998, is a municipally-owned security company operating in the capital Sofia. The company provides its services to the key municipal establishments in the capital, as well as to governmental, financial institutions and residential clients. Its security services include providing armed and unarmed uniformed security personnel for access control, mobile patrols, traffic control, security system operators and front desk operations. Egida also monitors signals originating from alarm systems designed to detect burglary, fire, medical, hold-up and environmental conditions.
In August 2003, the Sofia municipal council transferred to Egida the ownership of over 100 shopping outlets with a total area of 4,354 square metres located in the city's underpasses.
