Formoplast, which was established in 1972, specialises in the design and production of injection and blow moulds, press forms and vacuum forms as well as industrial crates and boxes, household utilities and technical parts. The private company, based in the southern town of Kardzhali, also produces plastic articles.
A 67% stake of the company equity was sold under Bulgaria's mass voucher privatisation in 1996-1997. In September 1998, Bulgaria's Privatisation Agency sold a 24.4% stake in the mould maker to management-employee buyout company Formoplast-98 for USD 197,291.
In August 2007, Eurohold Bulgaria purchased 38.41% of Formoplast from local companies Formoplast 98 and Starkom Consult, expanding its stake to 87.28%. In end-2012 Plasthim-T sold its 51% share in Formoplast, which it purchased in 2010 from EuroHold Bulgaria.
