Generali Insurance is the legal successor of Orel AD Insurance Company, which was established in 1991 as Bulgaria’s first private insurer. Orel AD Insurance Company was part of Bulgarian financial group Orel-G Holding, which global insurance group Generali took over in the summer of 2006. Orel AD was renamed into Generali Insurance later the same year, when the Holding took the name of Generali Holding Bulgaria. Generali Insurance’s portfolio includes property, cargo, car, travel, accident, general third-party and other insurance lines. In mid-2013 Generali Zakrila Health Insurance AD, also part of Generali Bulgaria Holding, merged into Generali Insurance.
