Bulgarian paper and cardboard packaging producer Grafobal Bulgaria, which was established in 1938 as a manufacturer of luxurious portfolios, albums and other stationery, is a subsidiary of Slovak packaging producer Grafobal Skalica.
The company's product range features full-colored paper and cardboard, folding boxes with two-, three-, and four-points gluing, advertising racks, marketing promotions and others.
Тhe factory was nationalised in 1947, renamed to ZKO Hadzhi Dimitar and specialised in production of paper and cardboard packaging for the local market.
In December 1997, Bulgaria's Privatisation Agency sold 75% of Hadzhi Dimitar to Slovakia's ADUT-ADOX SA for USD 1.0 million.
ADUT-ADOX pledged to invest USD 3.05 million in the Svoge-based plant over three years and increase the number of employees by 35 to a total of 300.
Of the remaining 25%, 20% were offered as non-voting shares to Hadzhi Dimitar employees and 5.0% were set aside for covering restitution claims by pre-communist owners.
The company was renamed into Grafobal Bulgaria after ADUT joined the holding structure of Grafobal Group in October 2001.
