Chimremontstroi, which was established in 1977, is a construction company focused on machine engineering, construction and repair activities servicing the chemical, petrochemical, paper and fertilizer-production industries.
In 1997, Industrial Holding Bulgaria bought a 52.3% stake in Chimremontstroi under Bulgaria's voucher privatisation programme and later raised its stake to 97%.
In 2000, Chimremontstroi merged with two companies CHEM – Pleven, which specialises in installation and rehabilitation of vessels for petroleum products, heat-exchangers, industrial piping fittings and CRS Power Equipment – Stara Zagora, an enterprise working mainly on rehabilitation projects for power generation and fertilizer production industries.
Chimremontstroi is one of the nine Bulgarian companies that have expressed interest in the construction of the USD 700 million Burgas - Alexandroupolis pipeline that would bypass the congested Bosphorus strait.
