Konsul, based in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, is a local producer of mayonnaise, bottled mineral water and soft drinks.
The company owns mayonnaise making plant Krassi in Bulgaria’s second-largest town Plovdiv, and Bottling company Hissar - the country’s first mineral water bottler, founded back in 1958.
Krassi, set up in 1994, produces a wide variety of mayonnaise and mayonnaise-based sauces, as well as sunflower cooking oil. The factory has been certified under the HACCP international food safety standard.
In the beginning of 2006 Konsul bought the mayoinnaise business of Rastma May Boichinovtsi, for BGN 1.8 million. The oldest mayonnaise maker in the country continued to produce sunflower cooking oil independently.
In 2007, Konsul started importing the Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi Turkish coffee brand in Bulgaria.
The same year, local businessman and Konsul owner Dimitar Konsulov became sponsor of professional soccer club Maria Louisa in the Danube town of Lom.
February 2010, the company acquired 100% stake of Mavar-2000 – a Hissar mineral water bottling company. The acquisition was set at EUR 2 million. Konsul will also take control over the 50% stake of Mavar-2000 in Hissar 21 Century.
