Kronospan Bulgaria, a subsidiary of international wood-based panels producer Kronospan, is one of the leading local manufacturers of timber boards. Based in the Black Sea port of Burgas, the firm produces a wide range of particle boards, fiberboard, MDF and Veneered MDF boards.
In May 1997, Bulgaria's Privatisation Agency sold 51% of local wood-processing company Bules to Austrian furniture producer Kaindl Kronopsan GR for USD 3.2 million. A 25% stake of the remaining capital of Bules was offered for voucher privatisation under Bulgaria's mass sell-off programme and another 15% was offered at preferential prices to its employees.
In May 2011 the company Kronospan BG, owner of Kronospan Bulgaria, merged into Kronospan Bulgaria and Kronospan BG was closed without liquidation.
