McDonald's, the world's largest fast food chain, set foot in Bulgaria in 1994 by opening a restaurant in the country's second largest city of Plovdiv. Bulgaria was the 75th country the fast food chain opens а restaurant. In 2009 McDonalds Bulgaria changed its name to Sunfoods Bulgaria. The company runs 42 fast food restaurants in Sofia, Plovdiv, Pleven, Yambol, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo, Varna and Burgas, Sunny Beach and Golden Sands resorts.
