Bulgaria's second-largest thermal power plant, which is located at the Black Sea port of Varna, has a total installed power of 1,260 megawatts (MW).
In April 2006, Bulgaria's Privatization Agency signed a contract to sell the coal-fired power plant to Czech utility CEZ for EUR 346 million in cash and investments.
The company`s main business activity is generation of electricity and heat, transmission and distribution of heat. The main fossil fuels TPP Varna burns is imported black coal. It consists of six 210 MW units and each of them feature a boiler, turbine, generator and a transformer.
