SKGT Transremontstroy, formerly owned by the Sofia Municipality, manufactures tram switches, crossings and rail units, point systems for tramway switches, all types of railroad transition elements and related spare parts. It also conducts road construction and repair activities.
In March 2007 the Sofia city privatisation agency sold Transremontstroy to local copper and gold mining company Elatsite Med for EUR 2.3 million. The buyer pledged to invest some EUR 500,000 in the company over the next three years.
In December 2006, Elatsite Med won the second tender for the civil engineering firm but failed to pay the EUR 4.55 million it had offered within the required one-month term.
The first attempt to sell the company failed in October 2006.
